– Description –
A potential anomaly exists with the AADvance Workbench software, catalog number T9087, versions 2.0 and 2.1.
The following can occur when reopening an application:
• There can be possible order mismatches in Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) Produced and Consumed
arrays or structures that are undetectable by the user.
• The configured “Remote Tag Name” can be randomly lost for one or more CIP Produced and
Consumed variables.
• The configured “Max Connections” value on CIP Produced variables can be set to 1.
Conditions needed to create the anomaly are:
• The CIP Produced and Consumed tags (variables) are of complex type (array, structures)
– Temporary Workarounds –
Until software correcting this anomaly can be installed, Rockwell Automation recommends the following workarounds:
• It is recommended to work with CIP configuration using an Excel spreadsheet. To correct any CIP
corruption, proceed with an import of all CIP tags before doing a download or online update to a
controller. Care is needed if one is generating the Excel variable export file from an existing project as
corruption may be present.
• Once the Excel spreadsheet contains valid CIP information, we recommend using only Excel to
configure CIP information and import the CIP configuration every time a download or online update is
required.
Note: Customers are advised to keep and import only the CIP-related information in the Excel
spreadsheet that will be used for this purpose. Importing wired I/O channel variables could cause
scaling issues in analog channels as per PN_2020-07-001 KB article ID: PN1522.
Select Help Menu, click on View Help, in Index search field type “Exporting, Variables”
A thorough verification that CIP Tag values are as expected is recommended after download or online
update if import is not performed.
– Correction –
Correction requires updating to SIS Workstation software, catalog number T9090, version 1.1 or later. Rockwell
Automation expects to have this available in early Q1 2021. If you would like to receive an email notification at time of
availability, please see the instruction and link at the end of the Knowledgebase article for this notification.
This correction may require additional licensing. Please contact your Rockwell Automation Distributor, Sales Office,
or other place of purchase.

PRODUCT SAFETY ADVISORY
Notice of Potential Unsafe Condition
Rockwell Automation issues a Product Safety Advisory when it identifies a product(s) anomaly that may potentially cause harm to personnel, capital equipment loss or environmental damage. Immediate action is required as identified below.
Allen-Bradley 1719-A8 Ex I/O 8 Slot Chassis Parts Clearance Requirement
Reference: 2020-08-003
Date: August 2020
This Product Safety Advisory informs you of a potential anomaly that exists with the Allen-Bradley® Catalog Number 1719-A8 Ex I/O 8 Slot Chassis. Clearance between the intrinsically safe I/O circuits of the leftmost I/O module and non-intrinsically safe network connections may not meet the 50 mm separation standard. Should a connection be made inadvertently between the intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe circuits a spark could occur, potentially causing an unsafe condition when operated within a hazardous environment.
PRODUCT SAFETY ADVISORY
expanding human possibility™
– Product Identification –
The affected product is the Allen-Bradley Catalog Number 1719-A8 Ex I/O 8 Slot Chassis manufactured prior to August 1, 2020 (date code 2020/08/01).
For installed product or product not within its original shipping carton, the product identification information can be found on the product nameplate located on the back of the product. The product catalog number will be found in the CAT field and the manufacturing date in the Date field.
In the example shown to the left, the catalog number is 1719-A8 and the date is shown as the code YYYY/MM/DD. If the date code were prior to 2020/08/01 this product would be affected and subject to this notification.
If you are unable to remove the product to inspect the product nameplate, lack of the separation plate, as shown in the Correction section of this document, may be used to identify potentially affected product.
For product still in its original shipping carton, the product identification information can be found on the product carton label. The catalog number will be in the CAT field and the manufacturing date in the DATE field.
The example shown to the left locates the fields on the carton label. Affected product will have 1719-A8 in the CAT field and a date code of 2020/08/01 or earlier in the DATE field.
PRODUCT SAFETY ADVISORY

– Description –
A potential anomaly exists with the Allen-Bradley® Catalog Number 1719-A8 Ex I/O 8 Slot Chassis.
Important – If your installation does not use an I/O module in the first two slots of the chassis, the physical distance is increased such that it meets the clearance spacing requirement. However, Rockwell Automation recommends installation of the separation plate as described in the Correction section of this document to avoid potential future risk should the first slot be used as part of system expansion.
As shown in the example image to the left, the distance separating the intrinsically safe I/O circuits from the non-intrinsically safe network circuits is less than the 50 mm as required by standard IEC/EN 60079-14 for non-physically separated circuits. This distance, or a physical separation plate, are required to reduce the likelihood of a cross connection between the circuits, such as might occur if a connection is not fully secured.
– Temporary Workarounds –
The IEC/EN 60079-14 standard requires a minimum 50 mm clearance between intrinsically safe I/O connections and non-intrinsically safe network connections. Where this distance cannot be maintained, a non-conductive physical barrier may be used such that the distance around the barrier is greater than 50 mm. Until corrective actions can be taken as described in the Correction section of this document, customers can implement one of the following temporary workarounds –
• Where space permits, reconfigure the chassis such that the first two slots are left empty. This will increase the separation distance to meet the minimum 50 mm requirement.
• Install a plastic separation barrier sheet between the 1719-AENTR module and the first I/O module extending at least 25 mm or 1 inch from the front of the module and extending around the module as shown in the correctly installed reference image provided in the Correction section of this document and in images and illustrations provided in Appendix B of this document. The thickness of the separation barrier material must be between 0.9 mm and 1.33 mm.
PRODUCT SAFETY ADVISORY
expanding human possibility™
– Correction –
Correction requires installation of a separation plate between the intrinsically safe I/O connections in slot 1 and the non-intrinsically safe network connections. Customers will be provided one separation plate kit catalog number 1719-SP1 for each 1719-A8 product on record. Customers are required to install the separation plate to correct for this anomaly. Instructions for the installation of the 1719-SP1 separation plate kit are available on the Rockwell Automation Knowledgebase Article ID 1127569 / BF25825 and are attached separately as Appendix B.
The image to the left shows a 1719-A8 chassis without the required separation plate.
This image shows a 1719-A8 module with the separation plate correctly installed between the 1719-AENTR module and the first I/O module.
Important – 1719-A8 product returns are not authorized on this notification.
Future shipments of 1719-A8 product will include the separation plate kit as part of the standard product. If you have affected product as described in the Product Identification section of this document and you have not received separation plate kits, or if the number of kits you have received is less than your installed affected product base, contact your local Rockwell Automation Distributor, Sales Office, or other place of purchase to request no cost 1719-SP1 separation plate kits. Reference this Product Safety Advisory PSA 2020-08-003 when requesting kits.

1719-SP1 Installation Instructions
Reference: Rockwell Automation Knowledgebase Article ID BF25825 / 1127569. https://rockwellautomation.custhelp.com/app/answers/answer_view/a_id/1127569
Issue: Minimum distance between intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe circuits is not met in a 1719-A8 chassis with all eight I/O slots populated.
Impact: When wiring the 1719 Ex I/O system, you should adhere to the specifications set out in IEC 60079-14, as stated in the 1719 Ex I/O Installation Instructions, publication 1719-IN001.
IEC 60079-14 requires that a thread dimension of at least 50 mm must always be maintained between intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe circuits. However, when using the 1719-A8 chassis with all eight I/O slots populated, the distance between the terminals of the I/O module in the first slot and the RJ45 connector on the 1719-AENTR adapter is not large enough.
Resolution: Install a separation plate (1719-SP1) between the adapter and the first I/O module slot to help ensure that intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe circuits meet the minimum distance.

– Description –
An anomaly exists with the AADvance Workbench, AADvance-Trusted SIS Workstation (SISW), ISaGRAF, Trusted Toolset, and FlexiSafe applications. When using ladder logic programming (not ladder elements in the FB Editor), if a reset coil (Reset) is used in a branch operation where one of the activating coil contacts is the same as the coil being reset, subsequent elements in that branch or subsequent branches of the same rung will not execute.
The example at the left shows two possible conditions affected by this anomaly. In the first example rung, the Reset coil is place first in the branch. Operations placed after the Reset coil will not execute, as shown identified by the red X.
In the second example rung, the Reset coil is placed in the middle of the branch. Operations placed before the Reset coil will execute, as shown by the green checkmark. However, operations placed after the branch will not execute, as shown by the red X.
Further, the example at the left shows a configuration where the use of the Reset coil with multiple branches results in rung operations in subsequent branches not executing.
When using ladder logic programming (not ladder elements in the FB Editor), if a contact is used to activate many branches within the same rung AND the state of this contact is changed before the last branch of the rung, then subsequent branches of the same rung will not execute.
– Temporary Workarounds –
Customers are advised to review all ladder logic where Reset coils are used and verify the Reset coil operation is place last in the branch operations.

AADvance CVT warnings may not be reported for subsequent Build All operations
Summary
After a Build All operation that resulted in CVT warnings, subsequent Build All operations may not report the existing
CVT warnings, unless the affected component has been modified between Build All operations or a complete rebuild
has been triggered.
Original Build:
Subsequent Build:
Environment
All versions of AADvance Workbench 1.X and AADvance Workbench 2.X. Affects all safety-related applications that
must have the Compiler Verification option enabled as per the AADvance controller Safety Manual.
Cause
The Build All is an incremental operation, it only rebuilds what is flagged internally as modified. The compiler does not
keep track of previously reported CVT warnings. If the result of a Build All operation contains CVT warnings and no
modifications are made to the application, subsequent Build All operations will not report the existing CVT warnings.
Solution
The following solutions can be implemented to ensure that all CVT warnings are reported during a Build All operation:
Solution 1: Online Updates/Online Monitoring are not required: Clean All
Doing a Clean All will force the compiler to check the entire application for CVT warnings.
PRODUCT NOTICE
expanding human possibility™
Important Note: After a Clean All, it will not be possible to perform an Online Update or to Debug the application by
doing online monitoring. A full download will be required for all the controllers in the application (stopping the
application from running temporarily).
Warning: Do not do a Clean All on an application of a running system if you cannot do full download afterwards.
• To do a Clean All in AADvance Workbench 1.X, go to Project > Clean Project/Library.
• To do a Clean All in AADvance Workbench 2.X, go to Build > Clean All.
Solution 2: Online Updates/Online Monitoring are required, and you are troubleshooting a POU with known CVT
warnings: Non-functional edit to the POU.
Making a non-functional edit to a POU forces the compiler to check the POU for CVT warnings.
To make a non-functional edit to a POU, use one of the following:
• Change the position of a variable box, a function, or a function block slightly; without affecting the execution order
or causing connecting lines to overlap.
Original logic:
Non-functional change:
PRODUCT NOTICE
expanding human possibility™
• Change the size of a variable box, a function, or a function block slightly.
Original logic:
Non-functional change:
Solution 3: Online Updates/Online Monitoring are required, and you need to check the entire application for CVT
warnings: Add a Global variable per controller.
Adding a Global variable in a specific controller triggers a full compilation of the controller, forcing the compiler to
check the controller for CVT warnings. For a multi-controller application, a new Global variable is required in each
controller to check the entire application for CVT warnings. After the Build All operation is complete, the Global
variable(s) can be deleted. Removing the Global variables will also trigger a full compilation.
To add a Global variable in AADvance Workbench 1.X, go to the Dictionary under Project > Variables and create a
temporary variable of any elementary Data Type and of Global Scope.
To add a Global variable in AADvance Workbench 2.X, go to the Application View > Variables > Controller Variables
and create a temporary variable of any elementary Data Type.

Environment
• All versions of AADvance Workbench 1.X and AADvance Workbench 2.X.
• Affects all safety-related applications that must have the Compiler Verification option enabled as per the
AADvance controller Safety Manual.
Cause
The affected Resource is locked.
In an AADvance Workbench 1.X application, a Resource can be locked when the project folder is copied with the
AADvance Workbench 1.X open. The Resource appears to be in use by another user that cannot be accessed.
There are multiple visual indications of a locked Resource:
An AADvance Workbench 2.X application can have a locked Resource when the application has been imported from
an AADvance Workbench 1.X application where the Resource was locked.
Important Note: There are no visual indications for a locked Resource in AADvance Workbench 2.X.

– Description –
A potential anomaly exists with the AADvance Workbench 1.x and 2.x. If a controller application is modified by an online update following a controller restore, the communications between that controller and other controllers may stop. When a SNCP producing controller is replaced by importing an exchange file or by a project restore, it is required that you compile / build the entire project and update all controllers.
The SNCP bindings between controllers may cease when a single controller, or not all controllers are updated in a distributed project restored from the repository. All the following conditions must be met for the anomaly to occur:
• The project has been restored in the repository (*.vsc) or modified by importing an exchange file (*.pxf)
• An online update is performed, and
• Not all of the controllers are updated.
This anomaly does not impact the binding “Consume Status Variable” or the “Error Variables” behavior. Using the second parameter, communication loss can be detected in the logic by configuring the “Use default Value”. An example is provided below with:
• Consume Status Variable: ConsumerLinkVariable, shown in Figure 2 below.
• Error Behavior: Use Value of: : -999, shown in Figure 2 & 3 below.
Also, the Consume status variable will display an error code different than 0 when the communication loss occurs. This variable is configured in Figure 1 below.

– Description –
An anomaly exists with TRUSTED I/O Modules. Series B modules may experience nuisance fault indications. Rockwell Automation has investigated reports of two specific nuisance faults that may occur with Series B modules. These faults may occur during start up or during normal operation. In both instances, one or more of the module “HEALTHY” LEDs will flash red, indicating a fault state. These specific faults will not affect normal operation of the system.
Important – Any fault condition must be investigated to differentiate a potential nuisance fault from a true fault. This notification describes conditions where a nuisance fault may be triggered. However, these faults may also indicate a true fault condition. Customers should contact their Rockwell Automation or Sensia account manager, or other place of purchase, for specific fault advice.
Identification of the specific fault condition requires inspection of the diagnostic data. Prior to resetting the module, customers are advised to use the AADvance 1715 Trusted Collection Tool to capture and review the diagnostic logs for specific fault indications. The specific faults described in this notification are codes 0x1050 and 0x1051.
1. As described in the Product Identification section of this document, download and install the AADvance 1715 Trusted Collection Tool from the PCDC.
2. Run the tool on an operating system and collect new data, or open an existing data collection log file. If a log file is collected using the latest collection tool, the module build versions will be included in the resultant .CSV file.
3. Once the log is open, use the “View” menu to open the log file. This opens the raw log data file. Use CTRL-F to open the search window and search for instances of fault codes 0x1050 and 0x1051. Note – Customers familiar with the use of the data collection tool may choose to collect and view the data of a specific module for fault code information.
If you find either of these fault codes, you must follow the instructions in the following sections. If other fault codes are indicated, contact your Rockwell Automation or Sensia account manager, or other place of purchase, for specific fault advice
– Temporary Workarounds –
Pressing the “reset” button will clear a nuisance fault indication, but the fault condition may recur during restart or normal operation. If the fault recurs this indicates a true fault condition and must be investigated. Customers should contact their Rockwell Automation or Sensia account manager, or other place of purchase, for specific fault advice.
– Correction –
Correction requires updating module firmware build 210 or later. Corrected firmware is now available. The following upgrade options are available:

– Description –
A potential anomaly exists with the Allen-Bradley 1715-AENTR, AADvance T9110, and Eurocard T9120 products. Customers may experience spurious nuisance soft error detection (SED) errors. For modules used in duplex mode, this is indicated by a red “Healthy” front panel indication and module Tags / Variables fault alarm. For 1715-OB8DE modules used in simplex mode, the error can only be observed using the System Health function of the AADvance 1715 Trusted Collection Tool. The image below shows an example System Health SED for the 1715-OB8DE module.
Similar diagnostic information is available from the System Health SED for other listed modules.
Customers can use the AADvance 1715 Trusted Collection Tool version 1.40.26 or later to view system health. SED related fault information can be identified. Download the latest collection tool from the PCDC as described in the Product Identification section of this notification.
Detailed SED fault response information is included in Appendix B for 1715 and in Appendix C for AADvance.
– Temporary Workarounds –
Affected modules must be power cycled within the Mean Time to Restore (MTTR).
• Power cycle the processor / communication adapter modules one at a time after verifying there are not faults present on the attached Ethernet network, making sure each module has fully powered up and qualified before moving to the next module.
PRODUCT NOTICE
expanding human possibility™
• Power cycle the I/O modules after verifying no channel faults criss-crossed between module pairs.
Power cycling the modules does not guarantee the system will not trip. However, if the system trips the system should go to the configured safe state if the system is designed per Rockwell Automation documentation and safety guidelines.
Nuisance SED errors may be reduced by updating AADvance products to system release 1.40.
If the fault occurs multiple times on the same module, the product should be returned for upgrade or replacement.
– Correction –
Correction requires a firmware update.
• For Allen-Bradley 1715-AENTER, update to firmware version 3.003 or later.
• For AADvance T9110 and Eurocard T9120, update to system release 1.41 or later.
When available, firmware may be downloaded and installed from the Rockwell Automation Product Compatibility and Download Center. A link has been made available on the Rockwell Automation Knowledgebase article for this notification, ID PN1520, if you would like to receive an email notification when firmware addressing this anomaly is available.
Important – Product hardware is not affected and may not be returned on this notification.

expanding human possibility™
– Product Identification –
The affected products are the following specific versions of Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 Logix Designer:
 V31 Versions – V31.00.xx and V31.01.xx.
 V32 Versions – V32.00.xx, V32.01.xx and V32.02.xx.
Note – Studio 5000 Logix Designer is available as a standalone product, toolkit, or subscrption
This anomaly is only possible when used with the following Rockwell Automation Safety Controller families:
 5580 GuardLogix®, catalog numbers 1756-L8xES(K). Note – Safety applications implemented with or without a 1756-L8SP(K) safety partner are affected by this anomaly.
 5380 Compact GuardLogix®, catalog numbers 5069-L3xS2(K) and 5069-L3xS3(K).
Important – If you are not using GuardLogix 5580 or Compact GuardLogix 5380 safety controllers as specifically noted in the section above, you are not affected and no action is required on your part. Rockwell Automation recommends you update your Studio 5000 Logix Designer software should you decide to use one of the identified controllers in a future application.
Important – GuardLogix and Compact GuardLogix controller hardware and firmware are not affected by this anomaly and hardware may not be returned on this notification.
– Description –
An anomaly exists with the Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 Logix Designer V31 and V32 only when used with GuardLogix 5580 Safety Controllers, catalog numbers 1756-L8xES(K), and Compact GuardLogix 5380 Safety Controllers, catalog numbers 5069-L3xS2(K) and 5069-L3xS3(K). Following execution of a specific series of software actions, some or all of the controller’s Safety Routines may not execute. These operations include using the Compact Project File feature along with the Delete cached build data option.
Important – This condition will result in the loss of safety function in affected controllers
The product version information for Studio 5000 Logix Designer can be found on the product About dialog. The product version information is in the Version field.
In the example located to the left, the version is 32.00.00. This version is included in the identified product listed in the Product Identification section above and is subject to this notification.
PRODUCT SAFETY ADVISORY
expanding human possibility™
Important – If you do not use this feature, then you are not affected and no action is required on your part.
The following sequence is provided for reference only and is not recommended by Rockwell Automation. The anomalous behavior can be generated by the following steps:
1. Download a safety project with no safety signature applied.
2. Take the project offline.
3. Compact the project (File–>Compact). Be sure Delete cached build data is checked.
4. Take the project online (Communications–>Go Online).
5. Put the controller in program mode. Generate a safety signature. Note: This .ACD file is now in a state to exhibit anomalous behavior.
6. Take the project offline and re-download the project. The error Failure during Controller Save Signature operation will occur preventing a successful download. Important: The .ACD file remains in this state regardless of the elapsed time between going offline with the project and re-downloading.
7. Delete the safety signature and re-download the project.
8. Put the controller in run mode. Notice that the safety routines do not execute.
9. Put controller into program mode. Generate a safety signature.
10. Once more, take the controller offline and re-download the project. No errors occur this time.
11. Put the controller in run mode. Notice that the safety routines still do not execute.
To determine if you are affected by the anomalous behavior, you may use one of the following two methods:
Upload Method:
1. Upload the safety application from the safety controller to a new .ACD file.
2. Inspect safety task for empty safety routines. If any are found, refer to the Temporary Workarounds section of this document.
Download Method:
1. Using the ACD file originally used to validate the safety project, download to any compatible GuardLogix controller (exact same controller type, firmware revision, slot number, etc.).
2. Confirm that the download error – Failure during Controller Save Signature Operation – does not occur. If the error does occur, refer to the Temporary Workarounds section of this document. Note: This error may occur for unrelated reasons such as a firmware revision mismatch. Verify the reason for the error prior to taking action.
– Temporary Workarounds –
If you have determined you are affected by this anomaly as described in the Description section of this document, perform the following steps:
1. In the offline ACD file, delete the safety signature. If the project is Safety locked, unlock it first.
2. Compact the project (File–>Compact) with Delete cached build data unchecked.
3. Re-download the application to the controller.
4. Generate a new safety signature. Note: This safety signature will differ from the previous signature.
PRODUCT SAFETY ADVISORY
expanding human possibility™
5. Perform Project Validation on the safety application code as described in the GuardLogix 5580 and Compact GuardLogix 5380 Controller Systems Safety Reference Manual, Publication 1756-RM012. This document is available for download from the Rockwell Automation Literature Library as linked above.
Prior to download and installation of corrected software, do not compact the project with Delete cached build data checked and then go online (without downloading) and generate a safety signature. If you do, that project ACD file will contain this anomaly.
– Correction –
Correction requires updating Studio 5000 Logix Designer. Rockwell Automation is currently working on corrections and will have updated software available for the affected versions:
 V31 – Corrected in version V31.02.00 and later.
 V32 – Corrected in version V32.03.00 and later.
When available, customers may also upgrade to V33. Contact your Rockwell Automation Distributor or local Sales Office to discuss upgrade options.
A link has been provided at the end of the Rockwell Automation Knowledgebase Article ID 1092938 if you would like to receive an email notification when software correcting this anomaly is available for download. This article will also be updated when additional release information is available.
– Requested Customer Action –
Rockwell Automation requests you take the following actions:
 Confirm if you have a product affected by this Product Safety Advisory. Refer to the Product Identification and Description sections of this document for product identification assistance.
 Product hardware is not affected and may not be returned on this notification.
 Customers under support contract are automatically eligible for software updates. Customers not under a support contract should contact Rockwell Automation for further instructions.
