Border States Establishes Employee-owner Resource Groups

FARGO, N.D. — Border States has established Employee-owner Resource Groups (also known as ERGs) to drive and complement the company’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives. The ERG’s purpose is to foster an inclusive environment where all employee-owners at any level of tenure and any career position can help facilitate a company culture that is safe, welcoming and equitable to all.

The ERGs are an inclusive space for all employee-owners at the company — regardless of gender, age, religion or race — and ensure all employee-owners have a voice.

The Women’s Experience is designed to help employee-owners connect, empower and grow through professional development, networking, volunteerism and educational opportunities such as their focus on Women’s History Month, while contributing to the success of Border States.

The Multicultural Experience is designed to share the culture, highlights and contributions of people with various cultures and backgrounds. This group helps to attract, develop and advance diverse talent while serving Border States and the community. They recently help a live mental health discussion led by The Standard, Border States’ employee assistance program.

All employee-owners are welcome at the experience groups, which have held meet and greets.

“Border States is dedicated to employee-owner engagement, allyship and raising cultural awareness,” saud Donise Farmer, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. “Our Employee-owner Resource Groups give us another way to increase engagement, build community and facilitate a company culture that is safe, welcoming and equitable to all.”

Border States supplies products and services to construction, industrial and utility customers. The 100% employee-owned company is rated the sixth largest electrical distributor in the United States by Electrical Wholesaling Magazine. Border States has more than 2,700 employee-owners and 100 branches in 25 states. The Branch Support Center (corporate office) is in Fargo.
